To be lucky or not to be lucky....

At work today it was announced throughou the whole health authority that an employee in Burns Lake won the $9,900+ lottery. An employee, who contributes to the lottery each pay period, has the chance of winning this lottery each pay day. One ticket of $5.00 is automatically taken off the paycheque, but up to 4 tickets can be put into the draw per pay period. That's all I contribute...$5.00. Anyways, the person that won the lottery hasn't even been working for this health authority for a year yet!! There are so many employees who have been here most of their life, but still haven't won.
When myself and other co-workers found out who won, our mouths dropped! First because someone in BL had won it and second because of how long this person had been working here.
I wonder what they will do with the money? I wonder what I would do with that money? Wonder if I will ever know?? Duh duh duhhhhh....

I am a Proud Auntie

Since becoming an auntie in 2005 when my middle sister got married and acquired 2 step-daughters, the need/want to spoil them happened. Unfortunately because those 2 girls lived w/their mother, their visits to see their dad and my sister were only on the wknds. They were always registered in some sort of sport, activity, club etc so their wknds were jammed full.
Now in 2009, their schedules have decreased and I have hung out with the two older girls on occassion. For Christmas, they both went to Hawaii so when they finally got their pics developed I helped them scrapbook them. That was fun!
In 2008 I became an auntie again. Saibry, my niece, was born and has grown up to be a super sweet and funny girl. Since I've been around her since birth, I've been more involved in her life. I live 2.5 hours away but when I'm in town I try to play with her as much as possible. (Below she is enjoying yogurt.) In July 2009, my first nephew was born. Corbin James was 11.5 lbs!! He's still a newborn so his personality hasn't shone through yet....give it 4-5 months perhaps. Below I'm holding him 3 days after he was born.
She's such a goof! She put her legs up on her own....perfect photo opportunity I thought!
This past wknd, my dad met his first grandson for the first time.
His new little bear is almost the same size as him!!

My Zipline trip in Whistler

My Surrey buddy, Tracy and I drove to Whistler on July 28th to ride the ziplines. What a great adventure, once again. My first time was in Sept 07 with a different girlfriend. The weather forcast was for 34 celsius but would feel like 42 celsius!! The drive took about 3 hours instead of the usual 2 from Surrey. There was still construction on the Sea to Sky hwy. The weather was scorching hot!! Once we got up to the first zipline, we were in the trees and it was quite a bit cooler.
Below is a pic of us before going on the 4th line which was the longest at 2200 ft long and with a drop of 160 ft at the beginning. I took a video of my ride on that line too.One of the suspension bridges we crossed. Below is Tracy on the 5th line called the Freestyle Line. We were allowed to go upside down. At first for the 4 lines I was so sure I was gonna go upside down as I didn't in 2007 but when I got to this line I became a chicken! Tracy did it though so kudos for her bravery!! I did eventually attempt going upside down but couldn't get my legs completely in the air and around the strap.

Once we got down into the Whistler village, Tracy and my mouth's were parched!! No exagerration either!! We walked very quickly to Second Cup for smoothies and water!! That was EXACTLY what we needed. The weather did end up feeling like 42 degrees and by the time we got back to the car to drive back to Surrey we were exhausted and very, very heated up!! Cheers to another successful bucket list item!! Below is a pic of the group we went with. The guide on the far left is Jeremy from Australia and the other guide on the right is Wolter from Alberta. Four of the girls were from Georgia, one from LA, one from Seattle and then Tracy and I from BC.

Hike to Nourse Creek falls

This past Saturday, Diana and I went for a hike, a short hike as the weather was really hot and humid. In the distance are the falls.
The view of Francois Lake and the Southside.

Check out these rock formations!! They are really high up so am wondering what would make the rocks look like that? Wind? Water??

Can't beat that!....And a brief school update.

Who knew that a hazy summer night would produce such brilliant colours? I took this after 10pm one night on the little bridge in the town I live in. I was debating whether to do it because I didn't have the best view from my bedroom to see what the sky was actually looking like. I took about 6 pictures using different settings on my camera: sunset setting, automatic w/flash, and landscape. I think this one was taken with a flash as it was lighter than my other pics. Two days ago, after submitting my 2nd to last project to my instructor, I was reading the instructions to the next project. I was totally frustrated that I couldn't understand what I was reading. I was also frustrated that I, in general, couldn't comprehend the process the programming programs on the computer from scratch. It's definately a learned skill but you also need to be very computer literate and a bit savvy with the lingo. I didn't find I was like that after doing this course. On top of that, my next 2 courses would've been about programming again and I was feeling quite overwhelmed.
On that note, I decided to drop my course and program all together. I wasn't feeling passionate about it anymore. But get this, I was getting 95% and 100% on my assignments in this course!! I don't feel confident that those marks were correct or reflected my ability. Oh well.
Now I'm going to do some head/heart searching. I need to find out what I'm good at and what my interests are. I really can't believe I don't know what they are..
I have had an interest in drafting for quite a while now....since gr. 11. I was registered at a college in Surrey in 2000 but they changed my start dates 3-4 times so I didn't feel confident in that school so I pursued the Pharmacy Technician program....immediate entrance into the program and for only 10 months too. I have to do online education as I have to work full time....doing anything less is out of the question. So we'll see what I find out about myself....hopefully in the near future I get a revelation or epiphany!
To be continued....

Multi-Family Garage Sale

Today was the perfect day for a multi-family garage sale....multi-family meaning, my mom, my sister and her husband and me. Maybe it should've been called "multi-family member garage sale"? Anyways, it was from 9:00am-3:00pm. Starting at 7 :30am we started putting all the items out on the tables and ground....that took about 1 1/2 hours!! I really couldn't believe how much stuff there was. I only contributed 3 bins worth, so ya, it mostly was my parents' stuff.
Below are pics of the "organized chaos".

Once 3pm came around, we were all very exhausted. First it was about 25 degrees the whole day, there were many customers, and my niece Saibry kept me busy. She chill-axed on me, then played with toys, then ran around the backyard. Busy busy!

In the end I made a whopping $27.39! Both my mom and sister/husband made over $200.00 each and even Saibry made over $30.00!! My mom took me out to dinner too....her treat!
