Easter Day

My mom has a lilac tree outside her kitchen window and there are constantly birds of all types sitting on it and eating from the bird feeder. This morning there were some birds with red heads on the tree. So with my new camera, I tried out the zoom feature and got some good pics. This is Easter dinner at Tenille's place. Her husband wasn't behaving so he sat at the tv tray with the kids. (see below)There hasn't been a pic of the 3 sisters since 2006 New Years' Eve. Caitlin, Saibry and Brad. Caitlin is due in July.

More Homemade Cards - made by moi

I attended a card making class in Smithers on this past Sunday afternoon. I made 10 cards, 2 of each design, for $25.00. You can't even purchase cards in the store for that price anymore, unless it's at the dollar store of course. I stamped the trees, embossed with black powder, then sponge stamped colors to make a sunset.
I cut out tracings of 2 different styles of petals and attached a large brad in the centre to attach to the card.
The "greenery" in the cone is made from "flower soft". Flower soft is a package of tiny flowers. I had a 2" piece of wire, put white glue on it and drizzled the flowers over so they attach to the wire, let dry.
This is a large stamp of a decorative easter egg with a ribbon. I colored in the egg and ribbon with felt pens. I used distress ink and sponged the egg for the 'antique' affect. I also sponged around the pink paper with the same ink.

This one is my favorite. The butterfly was a stamp as well as the "dream". I used a white gel pen to add the affects on the butterfly and around "dream".

Saibry's 1st Birthday - Happy Birthday!!

Saibry turned one on March 17, 2009 but the party was on March 16th to accomodate the party attendees. That day I was driving from Surrey to PG and got into PG around 4pm and her party was at 6pm.
Some of the 20-something party attendees. This was the pre-party festivities.
Look at all the presents!!!
I got her this white flower which is a light when mounted on the wall. It was from Ikea.
I got her this tennis dress but it's a bit big for her right now...hopefully I'll see her in it in the summer. As you can see, Saibry isn't very interested in it. BUT she is admiring the new food dish I gave t
her that says "All Gone" on the bottom.
Whoa...look at the push toy!! That will help with Saibry's walking.
Saibry's 1st chocolate cupcake with icing.
"Do I touch it? Do I play with it? Do I eat it?"
"OK, ya. I figured it out!!"
"Mmmmmmm.... I like chocolate. I'm definatley my mother's daughter. Happy birthday to me!!"

My friend Melissa's wedding.

On Saturday March 14, 2009 @ 3:00pm, my good, long time friend Melissa got married to Nathan Hansford at Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club in Coquitlam, BC. It rained the whole day but that didn't stop the wedding from happening. The venue was really nice and the drive up the huge hill to the venue was impressive....the amount of mansions passed was incredible...wished I took some pictures of them.Melissa's 3 attendants, best friend Sheila, sister Monika, sister-in-law Candace.
It was trying to sleet while the ceremony was going on.
This is the table I sat at, unfortunately it was at the back of the room but it was in the centre so we did have a good view of the head table. This is the second picture of the two of us together. Better late than never. Isn't she so pretty?

Hanging out with a great friend

On Feb 25th I flew to Vancouver for the purpose of attending a medical appointment in Victoria the next day. I stayed with my grandpa's house for the 3 nights, had dinner with him at Whitespot and loved every minute of it....the big city quality meals sure are better than the small town quality I get where I live....but what can ya do? :)
On the 26th I grabbed a taxi, hopped on the ferry and went to Victoria. While I was walking on, 2 guys tried to get on the boat without a boarding pass. Nevertheless, they were escorted off the boat. I grabbed another taxi after the ferry and the driver turned out to be hung over, stinking of alcohol, almost sleeping at the wheel and, on top of it all, was punching his own chin to try to stay awake!!! His driving wasn't erratic but what an experience. After 1.5 hrs at the appointment, I grabbed ANOTHER taxi, got on the ferry and then grandpa picked me up at the other side.
The next day, I went with my friend Tracy to Bellingham to look for an outfit for a wedding I'm going to on March 14th. We had a riot. I found a top and necklace/earrings in the states and figured I could get the black pants and shoes in Canada. ( I did.) After shopping in Bellis Fair we went to the Olive Garden for dinner. Below was what we had. I had chicken & shrimp carbonara.... yummmmmmmy!!! It was insanely SUPERB!!! Big city vs. small town.....and the big city wins again!!
We sure laughed it up in the car....got a bit annoyed when we had to pay taxes at the border, but if it wasn't for that "premature anticipation" what would we have?

Handmade cards

This is a card I made for my niece's first b'day coming up in March. It's a copy of a card from the Card Maker magazine. I changed the flowers and "bling" at the bottom of the card to suit me....plus I didn't have the vellum flowers they used. I actually really like how it turned out. I'm typically not a card maker but I like going to classes and accumlating 10-20 cards that way. I copy cards rather than design my own. There's nothing wrong with that, right?I used the Memory Makers purple "funky" font letter stickers. I really like this font....I bought many packages of each color from Ebay as they were becoming harder to find in the stores.

I made these cards, plus 4 others, at a card class. It was 20 cards for $40...can't even buy cards that cheap in the stores unless you're at the dollar store. All these were done in one night...the last 4 had to be done on a different night.
