Loomis' New Home

This is a picture of my cat Loomis. As of today, she's now living in the same town as I but at a co-worker's place as I'm not able to have a pet live with me where I am. My mother thought it best that she live somewhere else so she can try a new diet. It's suspected that the food she's been eating for years has caused an allergy in her which causes great irritance in her ears. There is constantly an infection in her ears and it's very bothersome to Loomis. So my friend, Shelagh, has graciously offered her home for a trial run. Shelagh also has a female cat named Gypsy.
I wasn't looking forward to today, moving her out of my parent's house just to be the stranger in another but a new diet and healed ears is important to me for Loomis to be happy (I think cats can be happy). The car ride was adequate. Loomis did have lots to say, mostly in a complaining sort of meow, but she was fine after I drugged her a few times with a herbal drop that helped calm the nerves.

When she arrived at the new house she instantly inspected the downstairs, probably made 6 or more rounds to check things out. She went upstairs and did the same. When she met Gypsy there was some hissing and low-toned grumbling but that's expected among cats. I showed Loomis where the food was and she ate some, so that's a bonus considering that's the new stuff she's gonna have to eat. I showed her the litter box and she gratefully relieved herself. (I should of shown her that first when she arrived, bad mommy!) Over all I think the 2 cats will slowly tolerate each other and this may work out for a while. It still bothers me that I had to move Loomis and that she has to acquaint herself to a new place while I'm not around. Shelagh did say I can come by so that's nice.

America is Expensive

Today on the radio news I heard the Cdn dollar is at 81.4 cents which means one American dollar costs $1.23...that's ridiculous! I remember when we were par and then even better than the American dollar (2007/2008). How was the American economy then? It would make sense that the Canadian one was going alright then.
Since the economy crisis in the States, the price for a barrel of oil in Canada is less than $80 which is good for our gas prices. We're at $1.129/litre right now. At one point we were at $1.459/litre which was $5.836/gallon. Life sure is getting expensive!
I definately don't understand any of the stuff regarding the economy, recession, inflation etc but it's very sad that this is happening and the people in high places don't seem to be agreeing quickly on resolving this problem, but then again, I may be wrong.

She's Adopted a Hippo Baby

My niece Saibry was surrounded by my stuffed hippos so she didn't topple over as she's not quite sitting up on her own yet.

Look at those eyes!! HUGE!!
Then she found baby hippo. Baby hippo is attached to mommy hippo but she was trying to grab baby...so cute. Has she found a new favorite animal??

Thanksgiving 2008

The 35-40 lb turkey! It was a free-range turkey. Tenille injected her own "butter ball" concoction of butter via a 20cc syringe.
Tenille's prize catch and the electric knife!
Caitlin's husband, Brad, after almost finishing a leg. He was a hurtin' unit...based on his reaction immediately after surrendering the leg, I'd say he ate the most. He went straight to the couch to spread out and groan!! No dessert for him!!

An Educational Update

I've finally completed my university english course, just have to write the exam on October 29th in Houston...BC that is. I'm not nervous...yet. I'm not sure how to study for this though. I know I have to do some essay and paragraph writing, maybe I'll review the types of essays/paras that can be written. Ugh!
Now regarding the math course, that's a whole different story. I'm still struggling in chapter 2, 6 months later. I've requested my first extension of 2 months and will expect to apply for 2 more. Next Tuesday I will be getting assistance for this course from a different source. Her name is Juanita and she's super smart in so many things. I hope I can catch on quickly to the concepts so I can breeze through this course so I don't have to spend a lot of money on the extensions.
To be continued...
